How Building-Impact Crashes Can Happen in Colorado
Crashes involving vehicles entering buildings often begin in parking lots or low-speed areas. In some cases, drivers may lose control due to pedal confusion, mechanical issues, or sudden medical events. Even at lower speeds, vehicles can cause serious harm when they cross into occupied spaces.
In parts of Colorado, many public buildings are located close to parking areas with limited barriers. Without protective features like reinforced posts or curbs, vehicles may travel directly toward entrances or walls if control is lost.
These incidents can lead to severe injuries for people inside, especially when the crash occurs without warning. Workplace layouts, seating positions, and proximity to windows or walls can all influence how injuries occur during these events.
