Cleveland, OH (August 4, 2026) – A bicyclist lost his life after a collision involving a Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority bus on Cleveland’s West Side. The crash was reported around 4:20 a.m. on Monday, August 3, near the intersection of Lorain Avenue and Clark Avenue.
The cyclist was taken to MetroHealth for treatment, but later died from his injuries. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 53-year-old James Hendershot of Cleveland. His official cause and manner of death have not yet been determined.
The crash involved an RTA bus, though investigators have not released additional details about how the collision occurred. The roadway was cleared after the scene was documented, and traffic resumed in the area later that morning.
