Northwest Miami-Dade, FL (August 4, 2026) – Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Deputies reported that a scooter rider was hospitalized after a morning crash at a busy intersection in Northwest Miami-Dade, disrupting traffic for several hours.
The collision was reported shortly after 6 a.m. on Monday, August 3, at the intersection of NW 79th Street and NW 17th Avenue. Emergency units responded after receiving an initial report that a pedestrian had been struck. When crews arrived, they found the scooter rider and the driver of the involved car at the scene. Investigators said the scooter rider was traveling on the wrong side of the roadway before being struck by the vehicle.
The injured rider was taken by ground ambulance to Ryder Trauma Center for medical treatment. The collision left the sedan with a shattered windshield, and the intersection remained closed through part of the morning commute before reopening later in the day. The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are still being reviewed.
