Chesapeake City, MD (July 6, 2026) – Multiple people were injured on Saturday, July 4, due to a boat explosion at Schaefer’s Canal House in Chesapeake City.
Initial reports indicated that several people suffered injuries, including major burns. Three patients were expected to be flown to medical facilities by air, while at least five additional patients were transported by ground ambulance for treatment. Multiple aviation units responded to assist with medical transport. The circumstances that led to the boat explosion are actively being investigated.
