Chicago, IL (August 29, 2026) – A Chicago police officer and a passenger were reportedly injured in a two-vehicle crash on the Southwest Side on Thursday, August 27. The collision happened around 4:39 p.m. at Archer Avenue and Nagle Avenue in Garfield Ridge.
Police said a squad car driven by an officer was traveling on Archer Avenue and attempting to turn into a parking lot when it was struck by a sedan. The officer suffered a neck injury and was taken to a hospital in fair condition. A 36-year-old woman riding in the sedan suffered injuries to her right arm and leg.
She was also taken to a hospital in fair condition. The 38-year-old sedan driver declined medical attention, and no citations were issued. The accident is actively being investigated.
