Peotone, IL (August 29, 2026) – According to reports by the Manhattan Fire Protection District officials, one person was critically injured on Thursday afternoon, August 27,  in a two-vehicle crash north of Center Road and Barr Road in Peotone. The collision occurred around 3:30 p.m.

The critically injured patient was flown to a Level I trauma center for treatment. A second person was treated at the scene and taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. One occupant became trapped inside a vehicle after the crash.

Firefighters stabilized the vehicles and safely removed the trapped patient while paramedics treated those involved. The intersection remained closed for an undetermined period as crews worked at the scene.
