Ontario, CA (June 28, 2026) – A multi-vehicle collision caused significant traffic disruptions on eastbound I-10 west of Archibald Avenue in Ontario on June 25.
According to California Highway Patrol records, the crash was reported shortly before 2 p.m. Initial information indicated that a silver Toyota Tacoma, a black Kia sedan, and at least two additional vehicles were involved. One caller reported that a Dodge Challenger had been racing another vehicle before striking the Toyota.
The collision blocked multiple lanes, including the HOV lane, with several vehicles stopped in traffic lanes. Passing motorists reported possible injuries, prompting emergency units to respond. At one point, all eastbound lanes were shut down while crews worked to move damaged vehicles to the right shoulder and clear debris scattered across the roadway.
Additional details about the accident, including the number of people hurt, have not been made public.
The circumstances surrounding the collision are still being reviewed by investigators.
We hope everyone involved makes a full and speedy recovery.
Why Multi-Vehicle Freeway Crashes Can Cause Major Delays
When several vehicles become involved in a freeway crash, traffic disruptions can extend far beyond the immediate roadway. Even a single blocked lane can create backups that last for hours, especially during peak travel periods.
Multi-vehicle collisions usually require crews to clear damaged vehicles, remove debris, and inspect the roadway for hazards before normal traffic flow can resume. In some cases, temporary lane closures are necessary to allow workers to safely complete those tasks.
Investigators also typically review vehicle positions, witness statements, roadway conditions, and available video footage to better understand the sequence of impacts. Early reports can change as additional information becomes available. Because freeway traffic moves at high speeds, even minor disruptions can quickly affect thousands of motorists traveling through the corridor.
