Why Median Wall Crashes on Interstates Can Be Serious
Vehicles that strike concrete median barriers on interstates can experience severe front-end or side damage because the walls are designed to stop vehicles from crossing into opposing traffic. While these barriers help prevent larger multi-vehicle crashes, the sudden force of impact can still cause significant injuries to occupants.
Busy highways like Interstate 85 often carry fast-moving traffic, leaving drivers with limited time to react when vehicles slow down or lose control. Investigators examining these crashes may review roadway conditions, lane changes, speed, and traffic flow to better understand how the vehicle reached the median wall. Even a single disabled vehicle can create backups and increase the risk of secondary crashes nearby.
