Riverside, CA (July 14, 2026) – At least one person was hurt in a hit-and-run after a white Chevrolet pickup left westbound State Route 91 near La Sierra Ave in Riverside on July 12.

According to CHP dispatch information, the pickup was traveling in the HOV lane before crossing all traffic lanes, leaving the right side of the freeway, going down an embankment, and coming to rest after crashing through a fence at Castle Park. Emergency units arrived to assist those involved, and a tow truck was requested because the vehicle had become partially lodged against the fence and required specialized recovery equipment.

Initial reports indicated that two people who had been inside the pickup fled the property on foot before emergency personnel arrived. They were described as a white man wearing a black shirt and black pants, and a white woman with blonde hair wearing a white shirt.

The investigation into the hit-and-run remains active as officials continue gathering evidence.

We hope everyone affected by this incident makes a full and speedy recovery.

Why Leaving the Scene of an Injury Crash Can Complicate an Investigation

When someone leaves the scene after a traffic collision involving injuries, investigators mostly have fewer details to work with during the early stages. Witness statements, surveillance footage, vehicle debris, and physical evidence along the roadway can all become valuable in identifying those involved. If the driver cannot be located immediately, investigators may also review registration records, nearby business security cameras, and any available license plate information. Medical evaluations for those who were hurt can help document the extent of injuries, while vehicle damage may provide additional clues about how the collision unfolded. As more evidence is collected, investigators can develop a clearer timeline and determine what factors contributed to the sequence of events.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
