Hampshire, IL (July 26, 2026) – Four people were hurt after a car struck the rear of a semi-trailer truck on July 24 at the intersection of Route 72 and Walker Road in Hampshire.
According to initial reports, the passenger vehicle became lodged behind the semi, leading to early concerns that people inside the car were trapped. Emergency units arrived and later confirmed that everyone had safely exited the vehicle without the need for extrication. A medical helicopter was placed on standby while crews assessed those involved.
Traffic along Rte 72 was shut down between Engel Rd and French Rd as crews worked to clear the roadway and assist the people involved. The extent of the injuries has not been released, and it remains unclear whether anyone was taken to a hospital.
