What Happens When Medical Evaluation Follows a Two-Vehicle Crash?
After a two-vehicle roadway collision, medical evaluation is usually recommended even when injuries do not appear serious at first. Some symptoms, including soft-tissue pain, concussions, and internal injuries, may not become noticeable until hours after the crash.
Healthcare providers typically assess a person’s vital signs, physical symptoms, and overall stability before determining whether additional testing is needed. Imaging studies such as X-rays or CT scans may be used when there is concern about fractures or other hidden injuries.
In situations where more than one person is involved, not everyone chooses medical treatment. Some people may decline care at the roadside if they believe they are unhurt. However, delayed symptoms can occur, which is why monitoring for pain, dizziness, headaches, or other changes in the hours following a roadway accident is often recommended.
