Jacksonville, FL (March 21, 2026) – A 30-year-old man from Jacksonville died Friday evening after a motorcycle crash on Blanding Boulevard near Collins Road.
The accident occurred as the man was riding southbound on Blanding Boulevard, approaching the Collins Road area. At the same time, a Honda driven by a 38-year-old woman from Orange Park was crossing eastbound after exiting a nearby parking lot.
Reports indicate the woman entered the roadway and traveled into the motorcyclist’s path. The front of the Honda struck the rear left side of the motorcycle.
Emergency units arrived shortly after the crash and took the rider to a nearby hospital. Despite medical treatment, he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the Honda was not hurt in the accident. Two children who were also inside the vehicle were reported unharmed.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
Our condolences go out to the victim’s loved ones.
Why Parking Lot Exits Can Lead to Motorcycle Accidents
Crashes frequently occur when vehicles enter busy roads from parking lots, driveways, or side entrances. Drivers leaving these areas must judge the speed and distance of approaching traffic before crossing or turning onto the roadway.
Motorcycles can be harder to notice than larger vehicles, particularly when they are approaching quickly or when visibility is limited by parked cars or nearby buildings. A small misjudgment in timing can lead to a collision.
These crashes often happen when a vehicle crosses multiple lanes of traffic or attempts to turn across the path of an oncoming motorcycle. Even a light contact with a motorcycle can cause the rider to lose control.
Because riders have limited protection compared to those inside cars, impacts at roadway speeds can lead to severe or fatal outcomes.
