The truck then entered the intersection, and the motorcycle collided with the boat being towed behind the vehicle. The impact force caused severe damage to the motorcycle, and both people riding it were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not yet been released.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
How Motorcycle Crashes at Intersections Can Become Deadly
Motorcycle crashes at intersections often occur when one vehicle enters the roadway while another is already approaching. Because motorcycles are smaller and less visible than larger vehicles, drivers may have difficulty noticing them quickly enough to avoid a collision.
When a vehicle towing equipment, such as a trailer or boat, enters an intersection, the additional length behind the vehicle can also increase the risk of a crash. A motorcycle may clear the front of the vehicle but still collide with the object being towed.
Unlike drivers inside enclosed vehicles, motorcycle riders have little physical protection during a crash. Even when helmets are worn, the force of an impact with another vehicle or object can result in severe or fatal injuries.
