How Entrapment Crashes Can Increase Injury Severity
Crashes involving entrapment often lead to more serious injuries due to the force of impact and the damage to the vehicles. When occupants are trapped, it can take time for emergency crews to safely remove them, which may delay immediate treatment.
These incidents usually involve high-impact collisions in which vehicles sustain severe structural damage. The force can cause injuries such as broken bones, internal trauma, and head injuries, even when safety features are in place.
Quick response and specialized tools are often needed to free those inside. The condition of each person can vary depending on where they were seated, how the crash occurred, and how quickly help arrived at the scene.
