Jacksonville, FL (March 21, 2026) – A 35-year-old man from Middleburg died following a two-vehicle crash on Normandy Boulevard near Carter Landing Boulevard in Jacksonville.
The collision occurred around 1:47 a.m. on Saturday, March 21. Reports indicate that two sedans were traveling eastbound on Normandy Boulevard when the front vehicle approached the rear of the other car and failed to slow down.
The front vehicle struck the second sedan from behind. The force of the crash caused the lead vehicle to overturn, while the second vehicle rolled onto its right shoulder and struck a chain-link fence.
Emergency units responded to the scene and took the driver of the first vehicle to a local hospital. Despite medical care, he later died from his injuries.
A 37-year-old woman from Orlando, who was riding as a passenger in the first vehicle, and the 41-year-old Jacksonville man driving the second vehicle sustained minor injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
Our condolences go out to the victim’s loved ones.
How Rear-End Crashes Can Lead to Severe Vehicle Damage
Rear-end accidents are among the most common roadway crashes. They often occur when a driver fails to slow down in time for traffic ahead or misjudges the distance between vehicles.
When one car strikes another from behind at speed, the impact force can push the struck vehicle forward or cause one or both vehicles to spin. In some cases, the sudden transfer of force can also cause a vehicle to overturn, especially if it strikes another object or loses stability.
These crashes can involve more than just the two vehicles in the initial impact. Vehicles may be forced off the roadway or into nearby barriers, fences, or other roadside structures.
Factors such as speed, following distance, and driver reaction time can affect the severity of a rear-end collision and whether the vehicles involved remain under control after impact.
