Why Rear-End Collisions on Busy Highways Can Lead to Multi-Vehicle Crashes
Highways such as Interstate 10 often carry heavy traffic, especially during evening travel hours. When vehicles slow or stop suddenly, drivers approaching from behind must react quickly to avoid a collision.
Rear-end crashes can create chain reactions when the force of the first impact pushes a vehicle into other lanes or nearby traffic. Vehicles struck from behind may be forced into barriers, guardrails, or additional vehicles traveling through the area.
Traffic congestion can also increase the risk of these incidents. When drivers fail to notice slowing traffic ahead or do not maintain enough distance between vehicles, even a brief delay in braking may lead to a serious crash.
