Johnson, MO (January 13, 2026) – A serious head-on collision late on Monday night sent one woman to the hospital with severe injuries after a northbound vehicle crossed the center line on MO-13 just south of MO-Y.
The incident occurred around 9:21 p.m. and involved two vehicles: a Chevrolet Impala driven by a 43-year-old Warrensburg woman and a Chevrolet Trax operated by a 62-year-old woman from Leeton. According to Trooper B.S. Lautenschlager of Troop A, the Impala veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the Trax, causing both vehicles to suffer total damage. Tip Top Towing removed both vehicles from the scene.
Emergency medical personnel from Johnson County Ambulance District quickly arrived to assist. The driver of the Impala sustained serious injuries and was transported to Research Hospital in Kansas City for treatment. Authorities confirmed she had been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver of the Trax did not report any injuries.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department provided assistance at the scene as investigators worked to determine the full circumstances surrounding the collision. Early reports suggest the cause was a lane violation.
