Jasper, MO (January 13, 2026) – A serious collision near Carthage on Monday morning resulted in two people being injured and both vehicles totaled, according to local reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
At approximately 8:05 a.m., emergency crews responded to the intersection of Inca Rd and MO-96, about 1.5 miles west of Carthage. Authorities say the crash occurred when a westbound 2021 Ford Mustang, driven by a 42-year-old woman from Duenweg, attempted a left turn onto the westbound ramp and failed to yield. The Mustang collided with an eastbound 2022 RAM 1500 driven by a 55-year-old man from Oronogo, causing the truck to overturn upon impact.
Mercy Ambulance transported both drivers to local hospitals for treatment. The female driver was taken to Freeman Hospital West in Joplin with injuries, while the male driver was brought to Mercy Hospital Joplin, also with injuries. Both individuals had been wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The violent collision left both vehicles with extensive damage, requiring removal by M and M Wrecker. Tpr. B. Bridges of Troop D conducted the initial investigation, which remains ongoing as officers continue to assess the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
