Washington Co, MO (January 13, 2026) – A two-vehicle collision on Monday evening resulted in moderate injuries for two men after a U-turn attempt went wrong on MO-47 near Eight Wheeler Rd.
Authorities say the incident took place at around 5:20 p.m. as both vehicles were traveling southbound. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze was attempting to make a U-turn when it was struck on the left side by an approaching 2011 RAM 1500 pickup. The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles, and they were later towed from the scene by Shanks Towing.
The driver of the Cruze, a 52-year-old man from Richwoods, and his 56-year-old passenger from Bonne Terre, both sustained moderate injuries. Neither occupant was wearing a safety device at the time of the crash. Emergency responders from the Washington County Ambulance District transported both men to Mercy Hospital South for treatment.
The 19-year-old driver of the RAM, a Cadet resident, was reportedly uninjured but was also not using a seatbelt. Trooper T.G. Busse of Troop C is leading the investigation into the crash, with early findings indicating that the U-turn maneuver was a contributing factor.
We extend our thoughts to the injured as they recover and hope for a swift return to health.
