How Single-Vehicle Rollover Crashes Occur on Interstate Highways
Main travel routes like Interstate 70 often carry steady traffic at highway speeds, particularly during overnight and early morning hours. When a driver loses control, the wide lanes and roadside barriers can influence how a crash unfolds.
Rollover crashes may occur when a vehicle strikes a guardrail, curb, or uneven ground along the edge of the roadway. The sudden shift in momentum can cause the vehicle to tip or rotate, especially if it slides sideways before leaving the road.
Vehicles that roll over often experience significant force during the crash, which can increase the risk of injuries for occupants. Road conditions, vehicle speed, and driver control are among the factors that may affect how these incidents develop on interstate highways.
