Why Head-On Collisions Are Particularly Dangerous
Head-on crashes are among the most severe types of collisions because the combined speed of both vehicles greatly increases the force of impact. Occupants in both vehicles absorb much of the energy, often resulting in serious or fatal injuries.
These crashes frequently occur when a driver crosses the center line, overtakes incorrectly, or loses control of their vehicle. Even on wide, open roads, a momentary lapse in attention can lead to a high-impact collision.
Safety measures like seat belts, reduced speed, and careful lane management are critical, but head-on collisions remain extremely dangerous due to the nature of the impact.
