Why Do Multiple Crashes Sometimes Occur on Busy Interstate Corridors?
High-traffic corridors such as Interstate 64 and Interstate 77 in Kanawha County, West Virginia, often experience heavy vehicle volumes throughout the day.
When traffic becomes congested, even minor incidents can increase the likelihood of additional collisions as drivers suddenly slow or change lanes to avoid blocked areas.
Emergency responders and transportation officials typically work to quickly clear crash scenes and restore traffic flow while ensuring the safety of motorists and responders at the scene.
