Lafayette Co, MO (February 4, 2026) – An early-morning accident involving two eastbound vehicles on Interstate 70 resulted in injuries and a vehicle rollover on Tuesday, February 3. The incident occurred around 4:58 a.m. near mile marker 59 in Lafayette County.
Information from authorities indicates that the collision involved a 2023 Kia Seltos and a 2026 Chevrolet truck, both traveling eastbound. During the incident, the Kia attempted to increase speed while changing lanes to pass. As the maneuver took place, the vehicle was struck on the rear driver’s side by the Chevrolet truck.
Following the impact, the Kia left the roadway, overturned, and collided with the median cable barrier, sustaining severe damage. The Chevrolet truck incurred minor damage and was able to be driven from the scene. Traffic in the area was affected while crews worked to address the aftermath of the accident.
Emergency medical services arrived to assist those involved. A 76-year-old male driver from Columbia, Missouri, suffered a variety of injuries and was transported by paramedics to Western Missouri Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
