Lafayette Co, MO (January 19, 2026) – A Sunday morning accident involving a passenger SUV and a commercial truck led to injuries and significant vehicle damage along a busy stretch of I-70 in Lafayette County. The crash occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. on January 18, just east of mile marker 35.6 on the eastbound side of the interstate.
Authorities reported that the collision took place when a gray 2023 Toyota Highlander struck the trailer of a white 2026 Freightliner Cascadia, with both vehicles traveling eastbound. The impact left the Highlander with extensive damage and caused injuries to its driver, a 36-year-old man from Warrensburg, MO. He was wearing a seat belt and was transported by a private party to Centerpoint Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
The Freightliner, driven by a 43-year-old woman from Orlando, FL, sustained only minor damage and was driven away from the scene. The Highlander was removed by Jackson County Tow due to the severity of the damage.
Troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop A responded to the incident and are conducting a full investigation into the cause of the crash. No other injuries or vehicles were involved.
