Lafayette, LA (May 18, 2026) – A Lafayette man died Saturday, May 16, after a collision involving his e-bike and a vehicle that took place Friday just before 2 p.m. in the River Ranch vicinity. The man was identified as David Lanclos, 67, of Lafayette.

Reports indicate the crash happened at Camellia Boulevard and Woods Crossing. A vehicle was attempting to turn left from Woods Crossing onto northbound Camellia Boulevard at the same time Lanclos was crossing the roadway on an e-bike from east to west.

The e-bike rider was struck during the sequence and was later pronounced deceased on Saturday. Emergency units arrived following the collision and carried out an assessment of the situation.

No further details about the driver of the vehicle have been released, and additional information about the circumstances has not been made public as of this report.

The inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains ongoing, with further updates expected as new findings are confirmed.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.

What Is Commonly Reviewed After a Serious E-Bike and Vehicle Collision?

After a serious roadway collision involving an e-bike and a motor vehicle, early attention typically focuses on how both parties entered the intersection. Investigators review traffic flow patterns, turn timing, and visibility conditions at the crossing point.

Road design can also be examined, including lane markings, signage, and any features that may affect how drivers and cyclists see each other. Statements from those involved and witnesses may later help clarify how movements unfolded in the moments leading up to the crash.

Medical documentation is sometimes reviewed to confirm the extent of harm when injuries or fatalities occur. Even in cases with limited early information, reconstruction efforts may rely on physical evidence such as vehicle placement and damage patterns.
