Merrill Twp., MI (May 18, 2026) – A 16-year-old girl died and a 38-year-old man was seriously injured after a motorcycle crash in Merrill Township on Sunday, May 17. The crash happened around 11:55 a.m. on Woodbridge Drive near 8 Mile Road.
Officials said the motorcycle was carrying two occupants when the crash occurred. The teen passenger, who was from Fremont, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fremont Public Schools confirmed that the girl was a student at Fremont High School. Her name was not released in the initial report.
The motorcycle driver, a 38-year-old Newaygo man, suffered serious injuries. Emergency units airlifted him to a Grand Rapids-area hospital for treatment.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
