What Risks Are Common at Rural Highway Intersections?
Intersections like U.S. Route 20 and State Road 3 often connect fast-moving highway traffic with vehicles entering from smaller roads. In LaGrange County, these crossings can present challenges when drivers must judge gaps in traffic accurately.
Failure to yield is one of the more frequent factors in these types of crashes. Vehicles traveling at higher speeds may leave limited time for drivers entering or crossing the roadway.
Visibility, road layout, and timing all influence how safely drivers can navigate these intersections. When multiple passengers are involved, especially young children, the need for careful decision-making becomes even more significant in preventing serious outcomes.
