Motorcycle Safety Concerns on Rural Highways
Roadways such as Ortega Highway often carry a mix of passenger vehicles and motorcycles traveling at varying speeds. In areas near Lake Elsinore, these routes connect communities and recreational destinations, which can increase traffic levels during certain times of the day.
Motorcycles are smaller and less visible than larger vehicles, which may make them harder for drivers to notice on busy or winding roads. Differences in vehicle size and protection can also increase the risk of serious injuries for riders if a crash occurs.
Highways that curve through hills or open terrain may add additional challenges. Changes in elevation, limited shoulders, and higher travel speeds can all affect reaction time and stopping distance for drivers and riders sharing the roadway.
