Eagan, MN (March 10, 2026) – A woman died after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash early on Saturday morning at the intersection of Cliff Road and Nicols Road in Eagan.
The collision occurred shortly before 2 a.m. on March 7. Responding officers arrived at the scene and found a 40-year-old woman lying on the roadway unconscious and not breathing.
Emergency medical responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Friends later identified the woman as Leslie Anne Youngberg of Richfield.
The driver of the SUV involved left the scene before officers arrived. Later that morning, around 11:30 a.m., officers canvassing the area located a vehicle parked in a driveway near the crash site with damage consistent with the collision.
Police arrested the driver at the residence. According to reports, the man admitted he was driving the SUV at the time of the incident. Jail records show he remains in custody as prosecutors review potential charges, including criminal vehicular homicide.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Leslie Anne Youngberg.
Why Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crashes Are Especially Dangerous
Crashes involving pedestrians often lead to severe injuries because people on foot have little protection during an impact. When a driver leaves the scene, the situation can become even more serious.
Immediate medical attention is one of the most critical factors after a pedestrian is struck. If a driver flees, valuable time may pass before emergency responders reach the victim, which can affect the chances of survival.
Hit-and-run incidents can also make it harder to understand how a crash happened. Investigators may rely on nearby cameras, vehicle damage, and witness accounts to piece together the sequence of events.
These cases can take longer to resolve because identifying the driver and gathering evidence may require additional time and resources.
