Lancaster, PA (April 14, 2026) – A multi-vehicle crash involving a school bus left five people injured Tuesday afternoon, April 14, along Rte 30 in Manheim Township.
The collision happened around 1:37 p.m. near the Oregon Pike exit. Emergency units arrived to find several damaged vehicles, including a school district microbus returning from a field trip. The bus was occupied at the time, but no students were hurt.
Officials confirmed the microbus was carrying four students from Adamstown Elementary School. Two additional school buses stopped nearby but were not involved in the crash. All students, staff, and parent volunteers were reported safe.
Authorities stated that seven vehicles were damaged in total. Five drivers were taken to a hospital with moderate injuries. The right lane of eastbound Rte 30 was closed near the Oregon Pike on-ramp while crews worked to clear the scene, which reopened around 2:40 p.m.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available. Our thoughts are with the inured individuals as they continue to recover.
How Multi-Vehicle Crashes Often Lead to Road Closures and Delays
Multi-vehicle crashes can quickly block lanes, especially on busy highways like Rte 30. When several cars are involved, damaged vehicles may come to rest across multiple lanes, making it harder for traffic to move through safely.
Emergency crews often need extra time to assess injuries, remove vehicles, and clear debris from the roadway. Even when injuries are not severe, the process can take over an hour depending on how many vehicles are involved.
Traffic slowdowns are common in these situations, especially near exits and on-ramps where merging vehicles increase congestion. Drivers approaching these areas are usually advised to reduce speed and stay alert to avoid further collisions.
