Why Lane Departure Crashes Can Become Severe on Rural Roads
Lane departure crashes often occur when a vehicle drifts or crosses into oncoming traffic. This can happen due to distraction, fatigue, or a sudden loss of control. On rural roads, the absence of physical barriers increases the risk of a direct head-on impact.
When a smaller passenger car collides with a large truck, the force of impact is significantly greater for the smaller vehicle. This can lead to severe damage and a higher likelihood of fatal injuries.
Road conditions, visibility, and driver awareness all play a role in preventing these incidents. Staying within marked lanes and reducing speed in early morning conditions can help lower the risk of serious collisions.
