Lawrence Co, AL (January 16, 2026) – A construction worker in Lawrence County was airlifted to UAB Hospital on January 12 after suffering a severe hand injury involving a table saw. The incident occurred early in the morning and required coordination between multiple emergency response agencies.
According to officials, a 911 call was made to Lawrence County Central Dispatch reporting that a man had sustained a serious injury to his hand while operating equipment at a construction site. The injury was described as significant, involving substantial bleeding. Remarkably, the victim, who had prior medical training, managed to apply a tourniquet to himself before first responders arrived.
Moulton Fire & Rescue and Lawrence County EMS responded quickly to the scene. Emergency crews took over bleeding control and provided advanced life support before transporting the injured man to a helipad at the former Lawrence Medical Center. From there, he was airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for specialized trauma care.
