Leavenworth County, KS (January 19, 2026) – A rollover crash along Interstate 70 sent two people to the hospital with serious injuries on Sunday afternoon, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:50 p.m. near mile marker 216. Troopers say a 43-year-old woman from Lawrence was driving westbound in a Lexus RX350 when she swerved left and veered off the roadway. The vehicle overturned and came to rest on its roof in a nearby ditch.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find both the driver and her 36-year-old passenger from Kansas City injured. The driver was reportedly wearing a seatbelt, while the passenger was not restrained at the time of the crash. Both individuals were transported to a local hospital for treatment of suspected serious injuries.
The Lexus sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene. Officials are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the crash.
