What Happens in Single-Vehicle Crashes Involving Fixed Objects
Single-vehicle crashes often involve a car leaving the roadway and striking a fixed object such as a tree, utility pole, or guardrail. These types of collisions can be especially severe because the impact is concentrated in one area of the vehicle. When a car hits a stationary object, the force of the crash is absorbed quickly, which can increase the risk of serious injury or death.
Rural roads like Breazeale Rd may present additional challenges, including curves, narrow shoulders, and limited lighting. Drivers who drift off the pavement can quickly lose control, especially at higher speeds. Even when seatbelts are used, striking a tree or other solid object can result in devastating outcomes due to the sudden stop and direct impact.
