How Intersection Crashes on Rural Highways Can Turn Deadly
Crashes at rural highway intersections often involve high speeds and limited visibility. When two roads meet without clear traffic control, drivers may misjudge timing or fail to see oncoming vehicles.
Vehicle speed is a major factor in crash severity. Even a brief delay in reaction can lead to a violent impact, especially when vehicles are traveling in different directions.
Road layout and sight distance also play a role. Intersections with fewer signs, lighting, or signals can increase the risk of collisions in low-traffic areas.
