Linn Co, IA (January 23, 2026) – A two-vehicle accident on Highway 13 near Travis Rd Thursday resulted in multiple injuries and led to an ongoing investigation by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred on January 22 and involved a black Ford Edge and a white Ford F250. According to authorities, the Ford F250, driven by 33-year-old Zachary Legrand of Colesburg, suddenly braked to avoid a snowplow, causing the trailing Ford Edge to collide with the rear of the truck.
Emergency responders arrived to find the Ford Edge in a ditch with significant front-end damage, while the F250 was stopped on the shoulder with minor rear-end damage. The driver of the Ford Edge, Richard Lovell, 68, of Prairieburg, was accompanied by two passengers—Theresa McNamara, 66, and James McNamara, 67—also from Prairieburg.
Both passengers in the Ford Edge were transported to Mercy Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Lovell was evaluated on scene. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the crash remains under investigation.
We send our best wishes to those injured in this collision and hope for their quick and full recovery.
