Elyria Township, OH (June 21, 2026) – A Lorain woman tragically lost her life, and three children were injured after a crash on Friday on the Ohio Turnpike in Elyria Township. The crash happened shortly before noon in the eastbound lanes of the Ohio Turnpike on June 19.
Preliminary investigation reported that a 2019 Toyota RAV4 driven by 28-year-old Najalee N. Rivera of Lorain went off the right side of the roadway, struck a guardrail, and overturned. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three children were passengers inside the vehicle, including a 7-year-old boy, an 8-year-old girl, and a 4-year-old girl, all from Lorain. The children suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center for treatment.
The Ohio Turnpike was closed for approximately three hours while crews responded and cleared the scene. The incident remains under review by authorities.
