Why Urban Intersections See Early Morning Crashes
Crashes at city intersections can happen during early morning hours when traffic is lighter, but speeds may be higher. Drivers may move faster through familiar streets, increasing the risk of losing control or misjudging turns.
Fixed objects, such as utility poles, can become hazards when a vehicle leaves the roadway. Impact with these structures can cause severe damage even in a two-vehicle collision.
Visibility, driver alertness, and roadway layout can all affect how these crashes occur. Early morning conditions may also involve reduced awareness, which can contribute to serious outcomes at intersections.
