Pedestrian Crash Risks During Early Morning Hours
Pedestrian crashes during early morning hours can be especially dangerous because visibility is often reduced. Drivers may have less time to see a person in the roadway, especially in areas with dim lighting or moving traffic.
A person walking has no protection from the force of a vehicle impact. This can lead to fatal injuries, even when the crash happens on a city street. The risk may increase when the pedestrian is struck and falls onto the roadway.
After a pedestrian crash, roadway conditions, lighting, driver actions, and the pedestrian’s location may all be reviewed. Damage to the vehicle and marks on the road can also help show how the collision occurred.
