Louisville, KY (January 28, 2026) – A serious accident involving a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck on I-65 North just before the Gene Snyder Freeway (I-265) led to a rescue operation on January 27. The crash left a vehicle pinned beneath the trailer of a semi with two people reportedly trapped inside.
Emergency crews from multiple units responded to the scene, which was located just north of the county line. Rescuers reported snow-covered turnarounds complicated access, requiring crews to reroute through the Brooks area to reach the site. Upon arrival, fire personnel used tools to begin cutting into the vehicle to remove its roof and access the occupants.
Although full details on the victims’ conditions have not yet been confirmed, the use of extrication tools and the position of the vehicle under the semi indicate that the injuries may be severe. Traffic along I-65 North was heavily impacted as emergency responders worked to stabilize the scene and assist those involved.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the collision and have not released information regarding the identities of those inside the vehicle.
Our thoughts are with everyone involved, and we hope for a full recovery for those injured in this incident.
