What Happens When a Vehicle Turns Left at an Intersection?
Left-turn crashes often occur when a driver misjudges the speed or distance of an oncoming vehicle. These situations usually happen at intersections where traffic flows in multiple directions and requires careful timing.
Drivers making a left turn must yield to oncoming traffic unless they have a clear signal or a safe gap. Even a small timing error can have a direct impact, especially when vehicles are traveling at higher speeds.
Visibility can also affect these situations. Parked cars, road curves, or weather conditions may limit how well drivers see approaching vehicles. In many cases, damage from these crashes is more severe because the side of a turning vehicle is more exposed.
