Why Are Bicycle Crashes More Dangerous on Major Roadways?
Roads like Hawkinsville Road often carry higher-speed traffic, which can increase the risk to bicyclists. When cyclists share lanes with vehicles, the difference in speed and size can make collisions more severe.
Early morning hours can also affect visibility. Low light conditions may make it harder for drivers to see cyclists, especially if proper lighting or reflective gear is not in use.
Traffic flow, lane width, and driver awareness all influence safety in these situations. Maintaining clear visibility and giving cyclists enough space on the road can help reduce the risk of serious crashes.
