Madison Co., IN (May 15, 2026) – Two people were hospitalized after a serious crash in Madison County on Thursday, May 14. The collision happened in the evening at County Road 200 West and County Road 500 North.
Officials said the crash involved a black Dodge truck pulling a trailer and a gray Ford F-150. The Dodge was driven by a 66-year-old Cicero resident, and the F-150 was driven by a 30-year-old Manilla resident.
The vehicles collided at the intersection, and the Dodge truck pulling the trailer caught fire at the scene. Emergency units took the Dodge driver to an Anderson hospital with internal injuries before he was later taken by ambulance to an Indianapolis hospital.
The driver of the F-150 was ejected from the vehicle. Emergency units airlifted that driver to an Indianapolis hospital with internal injuries. The crash remains under investigation, and additional details may become available as authorities continue their review.
We are thinking of both injured drivers and hope they make a swift and full recovery.
Injury Risks After Rural Intersection Crashes
Rural intersections can involve higher travel speeds and fewer nearby traffic controls than busier city roads. Drivers might have limited time to react when vehicles meet at a crossing.
Crashes involving trucks, trailers, and pickups can cause serious injuries because of the weight and force involved. A trailer may also affect how a vehicle moves after impact.
Ejection from a vehicle can lead to life-threatening injuries. Fires after a crash can create additional hazards for people inside the vehicles and for those trying to help. Medical teams often check for internal injuries, burns, head trauma, and broken bones after severe collisions.
