Provo, UT (August 9, 2026) – A male passenger was killed, and a female pilot survived after a small plane crashed into a body of water south of Provo Airport on Friday afternoon, August 7, shortly after the aircraft departed the airport.
Officials said the plane left Provo Airport at about 4:00 p.m. with the pilot and passenger aboard. The aircraft experienced an issue after takeoff and went down into the water. The male passenger died in the crash, while the female pilot survived and was rescued from the aircraft.
Utah Lake State Park remained closed for the night following the incident. The investigation is expected to continue after additional officials arrive at the scene.
