Mecosta County, MI (July 14, 2026) – A 74-year-old man was airlifted to a Grand Rapids hospital, and two others were hurt in a three-vehicle crash in Wheatland Township on Sunday afternoon, July 12. The collision was reported at approximately 2:45 p.m.
A Ford Fusion driven by a 17-year-old Midland boy rear-ended a Ford Focus driven by a 28-year-old Big Rapids woman and a Dodge Caravan driven by a 24-year-old Mecosta man. The crash happened near the intersection of 9 Mile Road and 25th Avenue, where traffic had backed up as vehicles turned into a local business.
The 28-year-old woman was treated at the scene and released. A 22-year-old Mecosta woman riding in the Caravan sustained a minor injury and was taken to a Big Rapids hospital. The 74-year-old Mecosta man, also a passenger in the Caravan, was seriously hurt and flown to a Grand Rapids hospital by air ambulance.
