What Information Is Reviewed After Two-Vehicle Crashes?
After a serious two-vehicle crash, investigators usually examine several factors to better understand how the roadway collision unfolded. Vehicle positions, traffic patterns, roadway markings, and driver statements are commonly reviewed during the early stages of the process.
Damage to each vehicle may also help show the direction of travel and the point where the vehicles came together. In some cases, weather conditions, visibility, and speed become part of the review. Traffic cameras or witness accounts can provide added context when available.
Medical findings may later help clarify the severity of injuries connected to the crash. Even when one person survives with less serious harm, another occupant may experience life-threatening trauma depending on the angle of contact and the force involved.
