Bend, OR (July 22, 2026) – A man died on Monday morning, July 20, after being struck by a train near the Reed Market Road crossing, according to Bend police. A BNSF train conductor reported hitting a pedestrian around 4:38 a.m., and officers arrived to find the man unconscious on the west side of the tracks.
Officers began CPR at the scene. He was taken to St. Charles, where he later died of his injuries. His name has not been released pending family notification, and police have not said why he was on the tracks.
Reed Market Road was closed in both directions for about two hours during the investigation. Our condolences go out to his family and loved ones.
