Knox, IN (June 29, 2026) – The Starke County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a hit-and-run Collision that claimed the life of a man on Saturday evening, June 27, in Starke County near County Road 350 West and County Road 500 South.
Emergency units responded shortly before 6 p.m. after receiving reports of an unresponsive person along the side of the roadway. When responders arrived, they found the victim deceased with injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. The victim was identified as Phillip Land, 45, of Knox, Indiana.
Investigators believe the vehicle involved was a black 2016–2024 Nissan Titan XD pickup truck. The vehicle may have front passenger-side damage, including damage to the headlight assembly. Authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the crash and are working to identify the vehicle involved. We sympathize with the family of Phillip Land.
