What Investigators Review After a Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash
Fatal hit-and-run crashes require investigators to gather information from multiple sources to determine what happened. Evidence from the roadway, vehicle parts left behind, nearby cameras, and witness accounts may help identify the vehicle involved.
Pedestrian crashes can be especially serious because people outside vehicles have limited protection during an impact. Investigators may also review roadway conditions, lighting, visibility, and traffic patterns to understand the circumstances surrounding the crash. A detailed review of available evidence can help create a clearer timeline of events.
