Shohola Township, PA (June 22, 2026) – A man died, and three other people suffered serious injuries after a two-vehicle crash on Route 434 in Shohola Township near Lackawaxen.
Fire and rescue personnel responded to the 200 block of Route 434 shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 20. Following an investigation, authorities determined that 65-year-old Francis Connaughton of Shohola was traveling northbound around a curve when his SUV crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle.
After the impact, Connaughton’s SUV rolled off the roadway, overturned, and struck a utility pole and a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The second vehicle spun after being struck. The driver, a New York resident, and two passengers from Lake Ariel sustained serious injuries and were flown to area hospitals for treatment. Their current conditions and identities have not been released.
